SUMMER CAMPS: Don’t forget to register your kids for summer camp before it’s too late. For Parks & Rec summer camps, click here. Several neighborhood organizations also have summer camps, so you should contact them directly. Click here to see photos from last year’s summer camps around Kensington.

KENSINGTON VOICE: Safe-Hub Philadelphia provides afterschool sports programs at Scanlon Recreation Center and workshops at its Youth Center in MaKen Studios North. Click here to read the full story.  

FREE ACTIVITY: McPherson Square Library will host yoga for all ages on Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. until May 24. Kensington Storefront’s Shatoya Howard will facilitate the series.

FREE DISTRIBUTION: Our Closet In Your Neighborhood (OCIYN) will distribute free clothing, food, and social services at McPherson Square Library this Thursday from 12-2 p.m. For more information, contact Carlee Pons at 267-256-2179 or cpons@jfcsphilly.org

JOB SEARCH: Visit Kensington Library this Thursday from 1-4:30 p.m. for PA CareerLink Job Search Assistance. Meet with a Community Workforce Connector for resume help, career counseling, and more.  

KENSINGTON VOICE: We are excited to launch our second art contest, “My vision for Kensington.” This contest is an opportunity for residents to share their neighborhood vision with those in or running for elected office at City Hall. A $375 top prize will be awarded to each category. Enter by May 5. For more information, click here

FREE EVENT: Esperanza Health Center’s “The Core Carnival” block party for its new community wellness center is this Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be music, food, games, and prizes at 3222 H St. To register, click here.

PHOTOVOICE EXHIBIT: Stop by the Kensington Corridor Trust Community Garden this Saturday for the “We Love Kensington Photovoice Exhibition” from 12-3 p.m. at 3236 Kensington Ave. There will be food, music, chalk, and more. Registration is encouraged at bit.ly/kctphotovoice

FREE EVENT: Taller’s Julia de Burgos Bookstore will host a “Meet the Author” event featuring Andre Lee Muñiz this Saturday, 3-5 p.m. He will discuss his book “Vida y Hacienda: The Life and Legacy of Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos.” To register, go to www.shoptallerpr.org 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: NKCDC is facilitating a two-part workshop for artists and vendors on Monday, April 24 (in-person) and Monday, May 1 (virtual) at 6 p.m. The workshops will cover a range of topics, and vendors who complete both sessions will receive one free vending opportunity per month in Port Richmond and Kensington from May to October. Space is limited, and priority will be given to vendors from the 19134 ZIP code. Click here for registration. 

PHILLY ELECTION: Congreso is hosting a free community conversation about voting on Monday, April 24, from 5:30-7 p.m. The event will take place at Congreso’s Education & Training Center at 2800 N. American St. There will be resources and refreshments. Registration is encouraged here

FREE ACTIVITY: Starting May 5 through June 9, Lillian Marrero Library will have free “Edible Alphabet English” classes on Fridays, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Participants will learn and practice English while cooking a meal. Register at www.bit.ly/EAEnglish.
