On Thursday, Prevention Point and Mural Arts unveiled a new mural at the Love Lot on Ruth and East Clearfield streets.

Artist Victor Sgro, who is in recovery, said he hopes his mural inspires others who are still struggling with opioid addiction.

“People always say you have to find the ‘rock bottom.’ It doesn't have to be a ‘rock bottom.’ It's a positive sign of hope,” he said.

Srgo titled the mural “Once Upon a Hope Dream” and dedicated it to his son, who was born in 2018. He credited his son for where he is today.

“It changed me. I'm a different person today. I didn't understand the meaning of ‘humble’ until I was humbled,” he said.

The mural is part of an ongoing series of installations curated by Jacob “Chris” Hammes at the Love Lot, which is located next to Prevention Point.

The Love Lot, which opened in 2020, hosts art workshops, food and clothing distribution, public restrooms, and more.
