Local Kensington bookstore The Head and The Hand, partnered with The Philly Goat Project on Saturday to turn a classic fairy tale into an outdoor community event for young children.

The event took place at Sunflower Philly, where actors and goats performed an adaption of “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” fairy tale called “The Philly Goats Gruff,” to an audience near Norris Square. To localize the fairy tale, a Philly Goat Project team member dressed up as the Philadelphia Flyers’ mascot Gritty in place of the troll from the fairy tale. The nonprofit’s goats — Clementine, Ivy, and Bebito — played the three billy goats.

Sunflower Philly, located at 1725 N. 5th St., was a vibrant backdrop to the show. Around 75 audience members, including young children, parents, and community members sat around the venue’s elaborately decorated walls.

After the play, members of the Philly Goat Project introduced the goats to children in the audience, who then led the goats in a parade around the garden.
