McPherson Library was a familiar shade of green on Thursday as Impact Services gathered community members in the library’s basement to cheer on the Eagles before Super Bowl LIX. Everyone wore their favorite jerseys and Eagles merch to dance, eat pizza, and craft art ahead of this Sunday’s game.

Impact's Community Engagement Manager Erin Farrell tried to gather the attendees to chant the famous “Fly, Eagles, Fly” anthem, but they were initially hesitant. After giving them some time, she managed to get them to sing along.

“That’s a lot better,” she teased.

It was a solid season for the Eagles. With a record of 14 wins and three losses, they became the most successful team in the Eastern National Football Conference (NFC East). On Jan. 26, they won the Eastern Conference Finals and advanced to Super Bowl LIX.

Yahaira Galarza, who works for Impact Services and has been a long-time Eagles fan, watched as her favorite team won the game against the Commanders. She expressed her excitement at the Eagles' progress through the tournament.

“I mean, it was amazing… Just to see your team get that turnaround. And the impact that they have on the city is great,” She said. “We have everybody in the city, even people from outside the city, very excited, very devoted.”

For her, the McPherson Eagles party was part of a week-long celebration in Kensington amongst her friends and family ahead of Super Bowl Sunday.

“We’re already turning up,” she said. “This is what it's about. 2025 is our year.”
