On Saturday, District 7 Councilmember Quetcy Lozada's office hosted a “Classroom Kickoff” event under the El on Frankford Avenue.
Event highlights included free haircuts from Lehigh Valley Barber and Beauty Academy, free backpacks from a backpack drive organized by the Frankford Community Development Corporation and state Rep. Jason Dawkins, plus free hot dogs from the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD), who helped with the grill.
Ceiba and the Philadelphia Digital Literacy Alliance also hosted a laptop giveaway, and City Commissioner Seth Bluestein brought a voting machine to show children and adults how voting works.
